You Own Your AI Outputs: Our Approach to IP and Data Rights
When you use Authentica, you retain full ownership of AI-generated outputs—plus IP indemnification for your protection.
One of the most common questions we hear from legal and procurement teams is: “Who owns the outputs generated by your AI?” The answer is simple: you do.
Clear Ownership of Outputs
When our AI agents generate content—whether that’s a dispute letter, an audit report, a compliance summary, or any other output—you own it. This isn’t a license or a right-to-use. It’s ownership, the same as if your own employee had created it.
Our Master Subscription Agreement states this explicitly:
“Customer owns all right, title, and interest in and to Outputs generated through Customer’s use of the Services.”
Why This Matters
Clear IP ownership matters for several practical reasons:
- Legal certainty: You can use, modify, distribute, and build upon outputs without worrying about downstream licensing issues
- Vendor independence: If you switch providers, you take your outputs with you—no restrictions
- Compliance: For regulated industries, knowing who owns what is essential for audits and documentation
IP Indemnification
We go beyond just assigning ownership. We also indemnify you against third-party intellectual property claims arising from AI-generated outputs when used as permitted under our terms.
This means if someone claims that an output generated by our AI infringes their patent, copyright, or other IP rights, we have your back. We’ll defend the claim and cover the costs.
This is a meaningful protection that many AI vendors don’t offer, and it reflects our confidence in how our platform generates content.
Your Inputs Stay Yours Too
Just as you own the outputs, you retain complete ownership of everything you put into the system:
- Documents you upload
- Data from your connected systems
- Configurations and business rules you define
- Any other content you provide
We process this data solely to provide the services you’ve contracted for. We don’t use it for any other purpose, and we don’t claim any rights to it.
Embedded Technology License
To the extent any Authentica technology is embedded in the outputs (which is rare for document-based outputs), we grant you a perpetual, royalty-free license to that technology as part of the output.
This means you never have to worry about hidden dependencies or ongoing fees to use content you’ve already generated.
